Student Success Statement: Thomas S. Monson

"Our very business in life is not to get ahead of others... but to get ahead of ourselves."

This quote means that we should not pay to others. The only thing we should focus on is ourselves and think of ways we could be better people.

Allopathic Physician (M.D)

Duties and Responsibility: Allopathic physicians are medical doctors who treat disease and injury using counteractive methods. They often work in public or private hospitals or clinics and many have private practices.

Salary: $100,000 - $275,000

Education: They require an undergraduate degree with one year of basic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and physics. They also need a Doctoral Degree in Medicine and a one year internship. For specialization, a three-year residency is required.

Reflection:Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

This seems like a career i would enjoy. It doesn't involve anything i really hate or  fear other than all of the years in school and needles.

Student Success Statement: Og Mandino

“True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse.”

Power and money are limited things. What comes from the heart and your character is way more important.

Allergist/Immunologist

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

If I did decide to be an immunologist there would be nothing preventing me from doing so. It’s good pay and it does seem interesting. The only thing I wouldn't enjoy would be all the years of school.

Student Success Statement: Sterling W. Sill

Sterling W. Sill
"Real wealth is not so much what we have as what we are."
What this quote means is that only real wealth is determined by what we do and how we act. If we are all good people then we will be rich with something better than money, with happiness. Being good is the key to happiness. So what’s the point of having all that money if you aren't money?

Acupuncture

Duties and Responsibilities: Acupuncturist must treat an entire individual rather than an illness or disease. They plan an individual’s therapy based on their health. This is an alternative form of medicine.
Salary: $75,000

Education: Acupuncturist must have a master’s degree which could take 3 to 4 years to receive.

Reflections: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I can’t stand the sight of needles and if I’m around them for too long I get dizzy so I don’t think this is a job I would enjoy this career. If I were an acupuncturist I would probably faint in the middle of therapy.

Student Success Statement: Ezra T. Benson

“You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible.”

-Ezra T. Benson

I agree one hundred percent with this quote. It has a lot to do with things like revenge. For example if you find out someone is talking about you and you go and cuss at them that won’t make you feel better. It just makes you the bad person. Also I doubt any sane person can just hurt someone and feel okay about it. This is why sometimes it is good to be selfish if you don’t think of others think of yourself and how you feel.

Acupressure

Duties and Responsibilities: Acupressure is an alternative medical technique similar to acupuncture. Pressure is applied to acupuncture points with hands, elbows, etc. Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, and reduces pain.
Salary: $82,000
Education: To study acupressure you must study at an acupressure school. They must study a total of 150 to 250 hours of study.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I don’t think I would ever want to practice acupressure because I prefer receiving a message rather than giving it. Also it does not pay enough I want a career that pays good or seems a bit more educated.

Student Success Statement: Gordon B. Hinckley

"Education is the latchkey to success in life."
Gordon B. Hinckley

I believe that this is true. The knowledge you gain whether it be academic or domestic or street smarts will help you in the future one way or another. That knowledge will help you survive.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I don’t think I would enjoy this career. It seems boring. Also I wouldn’t be okay with doing surgery. What if I made a mistake while operating? It would just get me nervous. It is also too many years of school.

Student Success Statement: Thomas S. Monson

“Decisions determine destiny.”
Thomas S. Monson

This quote means that anything you do determines your future. Only you can decide how your life will be like. For example if you decide you want to use drugs and alcohol it’s your own life you are affecting. If you decide you want to go to college you will most likely have a good future ahead of you.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not?

I wouldn't personally enjoy choosing this career. The wait to actually become a licensed psychiatrist is too long. I’m not patient enough for that. I also don’t want to deal with the mentally ill. I don’t think I’d be able to prescribe the correct medications. It is also too much school.
