Student Success Statement: Joseph Smith

"It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound."
This quote means that we have to popularize and normalize things that are good for you and the people around you. Doing good things or actions that you do that aren't selfish are viewed as strange and most people won't do them because they fear ridicule. If we make good deeds popular more people would do good deeds without hesitance.

Student Success Statement: Brigham Young

"True independence and freedom can only exist in what's right."
You will only achieve freedom and independence when you are doing the right thing. For example if you are selling drugs on the street you will never feel free or independent. You will not feel free because you will always be looking behind your back making sure you aren't being followed. You will end up being dependent in the way that you won't know how else to make a living. The same goes for anything bad that you do. This also how you can identify something wrong. If you feel neither independent nor free it can't be right.

Student Success Statement: George Chapman

"They're only truly great who are truly good."
This quote tells you that greatness and goodness correspond with one another. You can't have one trait on its own. No matter what if you are not good you will never achieve greatness. If you are good you can reach for the stars. If you are not doing good you can't even reach the door. As long as you are doing good you can do great things.

Student Success Statement: George Mitchell

"Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn't. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater. Don't do it."

Winning a game only takes up seconds of your life but it does affect the rest of your life, especially if you cheat. Guilt from cheating will affect you inside and out. You will be stressed because you want to confess about what you did but you don't want to tell because everything will be taken away from you. When your stressed people will know something is wrong then they'll get suspicious and the truth will come out. if you don't cheat you won't have to worry about this because you know you won fair and square so you deserve it as opposed to a person who will have winning unfairly in the back of their minds for the rest of their life. Finally, winning isn't everything you will go on with your life after you've won so if you do things fairly at least you can go back and remember what you won with a clean conscience.

Student Success Statement: Dale Murphy

"Character matters most."
This quote means that it doesn't matter what you do oar the accomplishments you make but how you got there. If you made it to the type by cheating and lying that wouldn't be a good thing. All your accomplishments would go down the toilet because of this. If you were honest and you didn't lie or steal to get to the top then that is what matters because you deserve everything you have achieved unlike those who decided to take the easy way. The easy way never justifies a wrong doing.

Student Success Statement: Benjamin Franklin

"Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all."
Beauty fades, strength will definitely not last, and when we all die we will not take our money with us. This is why it is important to be kind to one another. What truly matters is the kindness that comes in the heart. How will any god accept you into their heaven if you are a bad person. How will they accept you if you have cheated and lied to keep a possession, or anything like that while you were alive. All of our material possessions won't matter because when you are off this earth you aren't going to take any of it with you. Besides not being kind makes you ugly. Not being kind makes you weak.

Student Success Statement: James Freeman Clark

"It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or  wrong today."
This quote means that the choices we make today will affect us in the future. I read a story once about a man who was on his way to work. There was a man in a big rush behind him who shoved him and told him the 'F' word. When the man got to his offices he started interviewing people for a new position at his office. The first person to walk in for an interview was the same man he had seen earlier in the day. He interviewed the man and he knew he wasn't going to hire him. If this man had politely asked the interview to get out of his way instead of being rude he probably would have been hired.

Rachel Castillo

A women named Rachel Castillo was raised Christian. She was always taught that she shouldn't steal or lie so of course when she found $36,000 she returned. She stated that that was about the amount of her yearly income working at the golf course where she found money. She could have done anything with that money but decided to do what was right and give it to it's rightful owner, a 76 year old man who resided in a living facility and may also have health issues. The money was confirmed to be his through a series of transactions.

Student Success Statement: Otto Graham, Jr.

"Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly."
Otto Graham, Jr.
This statement means what it says which is basically do the right thing. If you are a good person of integrity with a good conscience you will know when you are facing the difficulty of something good or bad. The wrong path may be ten times easier as the right path but that shouldn't matter. You should always choose the right side because it may take a lot more time to accomplish this task but at least you know in your heart that you didn't cheat your way to it. At the end of the day those that chose the wrong will be punished and you will be rewarded for doing the right thing.

Student Success Statement: Alexander Pope

"Act well your part; there all honor lies."
This quote means that you must do right on your part. Once you do this you will have honor. Honor is what people should be seeking in the work, not fame nor fortune. Seeking all of these unnecessary thing is the root to this problem.
To have honor you must tell the truth and be kind to others. If you do this you will have a clear consciences.

Student Success Statement: Victor Hugo

"Right is tight only when entire."
This means that when you do something right you have to do the whole thing right for it to be considered right. Say for example you have a test. The question you are struggling to answer is worth four points. You only answer two parts of that question right and you don't get any points for it. You can't go and complain about your score because you didn't answer the whole thing. Another example of this is when you cheat on a test. If the teacher catches you cheating he or she will have to give you a 0 for lying.

Western Medicine Doctor

Duties and Responsibilities: Western Medicine Doctors practice a more orthodox version of medicine. This means that they use treatments used by the majority of people. These treatments include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, etc. These types of practitioners include doctors, nurses, physical therapists.
Salary: $305,677
Education: Since there are many different types of western medicine doctors the education varies.
Reflection: I think I would prefer this job over an eastern medicine doctor although i do respect what they. The reason is that I feel western medicine is more precise.

Student Success Statement: Thomas S Monson

"You can't be right by doing wrong; you can't be wrong by doing right."
I agree with this statement because as much as you may think you may be doing the right thing if it's wrong it's wrong and vice versa. Chances are if you're questioning your actions you are choosing the wrong.

Student Success Statement: Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

"Enthusiasm makes the difference."
I agree with this statement. If you stay optimistic about anything when it seems that things aren't going your way something good is bound to happiness. Optimism and enthusiasm are the key to happiness. Take for example the time I got a D in one of my classes, I didn't let that bring me down. I knew I could raise that grade and by the end of the year with a combination of enthusiasm And hard work I got a B on my final report card.

Student Success Statement: Mario Cuomo

"Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it has ended up not being right."
I can relate to this. When I was in middle school I hit someone. At the moment it felt good but soon after I felt a pang of guilt in my stomach and still to this I feel it. I would ask myself, "Did you really want to do that?". I don't feel it as much anymore but when I think about it I do feel guilt. This is why people must think of their actions before doing them.

Student Success Statement: M.L. King Jr.

"Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education."
M. L. King Jr.
This quote is trying to say that just learning isn't education. Without character there is no education. Character is what can make or break an education. If someone is learning hateful things from someone with a bad character they won't be learning anything good. For example, a child with a parent who has a bad character will learn only hateful or bad things as opposed to a child who has parents with good character who will most likely learn good things. Also without good character you will not be open minded and will therefore refuse to learn certain things.

Student Success Statement: Abraham Lincoln

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."
I definitely agree with this because I am like this constantly. Whenever I do something I know I shouldn't do I always feel horrible right afterward. However when I do something good I feel that sense of accomplishment right afterward. For example there was a homeless woman that lived near my house. She couldn't get her cart filled with her belongings up the street so I decided to help her. She thanked me and even offered me money but I decided not to take it because she needed it more than me. An example of a bad is like when one time I screamed at my brother. He felt really hurt and started to cry. I felt really bad because I didn't know it would make him feel bad.

The Sting of a Scorpian

One day a boy named Patrick, who was about seven, decided to not listen to his parents who had told him many times before that you must wear shoes when walking to avoid dangers such as scorpions thorns and snakes. Instead of putting on on shoes he put on flip flops because he thought it would be just as safe. As he walked around a trail he felt the sting similar to a thorn but when he looked down he saw a scorpion. He yelled for help and his parents took him to the hospital found out he would be fine. He thought he was going to die so after that day he never disregarded his parents again.

Student Success Statement: Paul Hatch

"When you tell one lie, it leads to another."
This is very true because most people like myself have lived through this. You one lie and you have to make more to cover them all up. A good example of this is lying about the sick grandmother. If you use that bit the next thing you know they are going to be asking about that grandmother and you'll have to say another lie. It will probably conclude with the truth coming out and you looking like a fool. This is why I believe that one should never lie and that we should listen to this quote even when we are just going to tell a fib.

Kindness Clip

Baseball
In this clip the boy, Ian, chose to give up his souvenir for the sake of a little boy he didn't even know. In the video the boy talks about how he thought it was very important to be kind to others because it will always come back to help you. I agree with him 100%. Ever since I was young I was taught to be kind to people. I always thought that being kind is a necessity of living, because being unkind has always seemed like an unhappy life for me. This is why if I were in Ian's situation I would do exactly the same.
